An early morning fire in Livingston Parish is blamed for killing a 24 year old woman.
State Fire Marshall Butch Browning says the cause of the blaze in Holden is under intense investigation.
Browning says a 46 year old man escaped through a second floor window but the woman, in a kitchen area, was apparently overcome by smoke and didn't get out in time
Browning says it was a tragedy
"She was found in there at the window trying to get out," he said.
Listen to Browning talk about the fire:
"The Parish Sheriffs office actually had a deputy get there within 3 minutes of the 911 call and tried their best to assist but to no avail," according to Browning.
Investigators say witnesses reported hearing an explosion, but Browning says those were propane tanks that went off after the fire started.
