The New Orleans Saints say fullback Heath Evans is out for the season.
The team placed the 9 year veteran on injured reserve Thursday. He hurt his knee in the Dolphins game.
The Saints picked up the free agent from the Patriots this season. He racked up 5 rushes for 16 yards and a touchdown on the ground along with 10 catches for 70 yards and two scores though the air.
Evans had surgery today in Florida to repair an ACL tear. Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery.
The Saints signed full back Kyle Eckel to replace Evans. Eckel will wear #36.
He was sitting at home after the Eagles let him go. Eckel racked up 169 rushing yards in his first two years in the league and scored two touchdowns.
