Police: Man shot twice in argument over stolen rims

Investigators in Lafourche Parish say they are searching for a man wanted for shooting another man over stolen automobile rims.

According to a press release by Sheriff Craig Webre, the shooting occurred outside a lounge on Williams Street in Raceland at about 10:30 Tuesday night.

Police say Terrance "Butta" Lyons admitted to the victim that Lyons had stolen expensive rims from the shooting victim's car a couple of months ago.

After Lyons refused to return the rims, police the argument between the two men escalated to point that Lyons pulled a gun and shot the victim, Dwayne Cleveland, in each leg below the knee.

Officials say Cleveland managed to drive himself to St. Anne Hospital where he was treated and is expected to be released soon.

Webre said that Lyons faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder.   According to Webre, Lyons also has two outstanding warrants for his arrest for contempt of court, with a criminal history stretching back nine years, including numerous drug violations.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Lyons is asked to call Lafourche Crimestoppers at 1-800-SHERIFF. You don't have to give your name and you may be eligible for a reward.
