Serial rape suspect returned to Miss.

Authorities say a man suspected of using a stun gun and handcuffs to assault college women in the Southeast has been returned to Mississippi to face a rape charge.

A jail official says James H. Crockett was booked into the Lamar County jail in Purvis about 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

Crockett was wanted for assaults in Mississippi and Louisiana. He was arrested late Monday after he crashed his car during a police chase near Huntsville, Ala.

Crockett is accused of raping women in Hattiesburg, Miss., and Baton Rouge, La. He's also accused of an attempted rape in Hammond, La.

L'Jean Mckneely Jr. with the Baton Rouge Police Department said Crockett will be tried in Louisiana after facing charges in Mississippi.

It wasn't immediately clear if Crockett had hired a lawyer.
