No word on fate of K9 dog after attack




Authorities in Terrebonne Parish say a woman from Bourg was attacked in her driveway by a police dog owned by her neighbor, an off-duty Terrebonne sheriff's deputy.

Sheriff's Maj. Malcolm Wolfe says twenty-year-old Jessica Brister was walking to her car when the Belgian Malinois bit her right arm. She was taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center where she underwent surgery.

The attack happened about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, while her neighbor, Phillip Pitre, was off duty and away from home. Deputies are unsure how the dog got out of the kennel in Pitre's yard, which is surrounded by a 6-foot fence.

The dog in Tuesday's attack has been removed from Pitre's home. Wolfe refused to say where the dog is being kept.
