LSU Tiger notes

Two former LSU Tigers will play for the first time tonight in the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Toronto's Aaron Hill will start at
second base and bat eighth for the American League, while Colorado's Brad Hawpe will come off the bench for the National League.

Hill is hitting .292 this season with 20 home runs and 60 RBI.   He's the first former LSU Tiger to start an All-Star Game since Albert Belle in 1996.
Hill was a Tiger when LSU won the 2000 College World Series.

Hawpe is hitting .320 with 14 home runs and 59 RBI for the Rockies.

In other LSU baseball news, Pitcher Louis Coleman signs with Kansas City and is assigned to the Royals class A minor league team in Burlington, Iowa. The 6'3" right-hander won 14 games and was named SEC Pitcher of the Year in 2009.

LSU's annual football fan day is set for Sunday, August 9th. It will be held at the Baton Rouge River Center. Fans will be able to meet
Mike the Tiger, the LSU cheerleaders, and members of the volleyball and women's soccer teams.   It all gets started at 2:45pm. The Tiger
football team, along with head coach Les Miles and his staff, will be available for autographs and photos from 3:30pm until 5:00pm that day.

The work continues on a new $14 million practice facility for LSU's men's and women's basketball teams. However, the facility isn't expected to be completely ready for the beginning of the 2009-2010 season as originally hoped.
