Jefferson Parish detectives are trying to solve a string of armed robberies in Terrytown in which Hispanics were the target.
"In all of these incidents the victims were Hispanic. There was one black male suspect in four of the incidents," Colonel John Fortunato said in a news release. "Members of the Robbery Section are currently investigating five armed robberies which have occurred in the Faith Place/South Forest Lawn area of Terrytown since Tuesday, June 30, 2009."
In one case, the robber or robbers shot at the victim, but missed. In another they injured the victim.
"The suspect shot the victim in the leg," Fortunato said.
JPSO says the robberies occurred on the following dates at the listed locations:
Tuesday 06-30-2009 1906 South Forest Lawn
Thursday 07-02-2009 1901 Faith Place
Sunday 07-05-2009 1910 South Forest Lawn
Monday 07-06-2009 1901 Faith Place
Monday 07-06-2009 1903 Faith Place
"The suspect has been described as being anywhere from 17 to 30 years of age, 5'5" to 6'0", 130 to 165 pounds, generally with short hair. In one case the suspect was described as having a scar or a scratch on his right cheek," according to Fortunto.
