Man dies after Northshore cops stop him

Authorities want to know why a man died during a traffic stop on the Northshore.

"A Livingston Parish Sheriff's Deputy made a traffic stop on a suspected impaired driver east of Livingston on I-12," Livingston Chief Criminal Deputy Jason Ard said in a news release.

He says the suspect resisted deputies efforts to arrest him.

"Back up officers arrived and the man was finally placed in handcuffs. Deputies soon realized the man was having difficulty breathing," Ard said. "He was then transported to North Oaks Hospital in Hammond where he was pronounced dead."

Ard says the man is a local. "The deceased was identified as 42 year old Donel Adam Stogner of 34382 Duff Road Walker, La."

Investigators hope to learn more from an autopsy.

"This is an ongoing investigation and no further details will be released until it is completed," Ard said.
