Live music starts at 5:30 when Ghost Town will perform. The New Orleans Concert Band takes over at 7. "They'll play patriotic music for a couple hours, culminating with Jefferson Parish's largest fireworks extravaganza at 9 p.m.," says Martin.

The event is free and open to the public.

On Saturday, folks will flock to the river for a passionate salute to America's independence, feature the dueling barges fireworks display along the New Orleans Riverfront.

"It is wonderful and it's one-of-a-kind. It's the only dueling barge show that we know of," says Debbie Bressler, with the Riverfront Marketing Group.
