A New Orleans man who was a mail carrier at a Gretna post office has pleaded guilty to throwing away mail he was supposed to deliver.
Last year, investigators allegedly found 150 pieces of direct mail advertising in a trash bin and traced it to the delivery route assigned to 23-year-old Adam Jones. Prosecutors say Jones confessed to dumping the mail.
Jones faces up to six months in prison following his guilty plea Tuesday to one count of obstructing mail.
His sentencing by U.S. District Judge Jay Zainey is set for Sept. 29.
