Angola prison course featured on Golf Channel

The Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, the only prison in the U.S. with a golf course inside its prison walls, has captured the attention of the Golf Channel.

On Tuesday, Angola's Prison View Golf Course will be featured in an episode of the Golf Channel's new television series, "Golf in America," which is slated to air at 9 p.m. CDT.

The nine-hole course is open to the public and maintained by inmates, who are not allowed to play. Inmates are granted the opportunity to work the grounds as a reward for good behavior.

The 10-episode series premiered earlier this month and runs through Aug. 25. It chronicles more than 20 inspirational stories about golf and those who love the game.
