A 16-year-old has drowned in the Tickfaw River. Livingston Parish authorities say it happened Tuesday afternoon near Holden.
Sheriff's deputies arrived around 3:00 p.m. where the TIckfaw passes beneath U.S. 190. Upon arrival they found civilians in the area administering CPR to a 16 year old who had just been pulled from the river.
First responders from the local fire department were called and Acadian Ambulance’s Airmed unit transported the victim, 16-year-old Cody Fitgerald, to the hospital. However, he did not survive.
Authorities say it's the second drowning in less than a week in the Tickfaw, and urge people to use caution when entering the water this summer.
