Kenner Police got into a high speed chase with an alleged shoe thief today.
Lt. Wayne McInnis with Kenner PD said the suspect has repeatedly stolen expensive designer "Cole Haan" shoes from Dillard's at the Esplanade.
"These shoes run from about $150 to $200 a pair," McInnis said
McInnis said that today, a cop spotted the suspect in the act.
"The officer tried to apprehend the subject. They got into a brief scuffle. The subject broke away, ran outside and got into a car," McInnis told WWL First News.
He says another officer spotted the vehicle and gave chase.
Several other cops joined in as the pursuit moved onto the I-10, through Metairie, off the I-10, through neighborhoods and back onto the Interstate.
"A chase ensued all the way into New Orleans where the subject has been apprehended," said McInnis
Listen to McInnis talk about the incident:
What went into the decision to chase the alleged shoe thief through several municipalities?
"We're dealing with a subject who has numerous felony charges," McInnis said. "This gentleman has committed this crime a number of times before."
McInnis says the suspect was not armed, there were no crashes as a result of the chase and no one was injured.
