Glover's Five Shutout Innings Lead Z's To Victory

Gary Glover threw five shutout innings in his first start with the Zephyrs to lead them to a 4-2 victory over Oklahoma City Sunday night. Glover (1-0) struck out seven while allowing only four hits to help the Z's get their fifth win in six games.

Second baseman Dave Matranga gave New Orleans an early lead with his leadoff home run in the bottom of the third inning. Matranga was 2-for-2 with one RBI and two runs scored on the night.

Jai Miller and John Lindsey were both 2-for-4 with an RBI apiece, and Cameron Maybin was 2-for-3 with two doubles to help the Z's to their third win in four games against the RedHawks.

Oklahoma City tried to mount a comeback in the seventh inning by scoring one run and getting two runners on base off of reliever Brett Sinkbeil. Although Chris Mobley came in and allowed one more run to score, he was able to get out of the inning with no further damage.

Nate Field got his seventh save of the season by pitching a perfect ninth inning.

The Zephyrs will be in action again Monday night when the Iowa Cubs come to Zephyr Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm, as Rick VandenHurk (RHP) will face off against Matt Wright (RHP).
