Zephyrs Score Season-High 10 Runs At Home

The Zephyrs got a strong start from Clay Hensley, and the offense pounded out 12 hits to cruise past the Oklahoma City RedHawks 10-1 Thursday night at Zephyr Field. Hensley (2-1) pitched seven innings, allowing only one run on four hits while striking out eight.

Brett Hayes went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI, and two runs scored to lead the way for the Zephyrs. The Z's were hitless through the first two innings, but Hayes' leadoff double in the third inning set the tone for the rest of the game.

The Z's crushed five extra-base hits on the night, and every starter had at least one hit except for first baseman John Lindsey. By scoring 10 runs the Z's set a new season-high for runs scored at home.

Andy Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored, and John Raynor and Cameron Maybin each going 2-for-5 with a double.

The victory puts the Zephyrs only one game behind the RedHawks, who were tied for the division lead entering the game. The series will continue Friday night with John Koronka (LHP) taking on Tommy Hunter (RHP).
