Mitchell returning to LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- LSU forward Tasmin Mitchell formally withdrew from the NBA draft on Monday, allowing him to remain with the Tigers for another season.

Mitchell, who averaged 16.3 points and 7.2 rebounds last season, will return as a fifth-year senior next fall.

LSU Coach Trent Johnson said he met with Mitchell on Monday morning and they faxed the appropriate paperwork to the NBA.

"I'm coming back to a great program and a great coach," said Mitchell, a native of Denham Springs, La. "My family has really supported me in this process and in the end the best thing was for me to come back to LSU, get my degree and have one more year to be a Tiger."
