A woman who police say slashed a man's face during a card game has been arrested.
Officers say 45-year-old Elizabeth Averette was playing cards at a home in eastern New Orleans on Monday afternoon when she pulled out a knife and cut the face of an unidentified 44-year-old-man with whom she was playing.
She was booked on one count of aggravated battery.
Records show Averette has had previous arrests for incidents of violence.
However, she was released on those earlier charges from jail under Article 701 of the Louisiana Criminal Code, which says a defendant must be released from jail after 60 days if prosecutors don't file charges.
