April 15th brings the ultimate in procrastination for local taxpayers

The day dreaded by thousands of taxpayers is upon us.

Procrastinators have until midnight to get their federal tax returns filed with the IRS.

Some local workers told WWL News that they had good reason for the delay.

"Well, because I owed money this year, and was tinkering with it," one downtown employee said.

"Actually, surprisingly, I found out I was getting something back," a woman said on Poydras. "So, I shouldn't have waited until the last minute."

Those who procrastinate say they can't fathom why some people file early; the feeling is apparently mutual.

"The guys who are getting money back, they should file early," said another worker who filed back in February.
