The first ever Louisiana RoadFood Festival takes place in the French Quarter tomorrow and Sunday. It's like a restaurant road trip of the diverse regions of the Louisiana Culinary Trails.
"This is the best cuisine Louisiana has to offer. It's seventeen of our finest restaurants on Royal Street this weekend," says Spokesman Frank Stansbury. "We're going to be doing just about every type of Louisiana cuisine you can possibly imagine."

He says you could travel for miles and weeks throughout the state never discover all the great eats you'll find in the four blocks of Royal Street, from Bienville to St. Peters. The festival is free, from 11a.m. to 7p.m. both days.
There will also be strolling brass bands and soloists, panel discussions and debates about the nation's outstanding Roadfood, and the camaraderie of like-minded foodies from around the nation and the world.
Proceeds from food and beverage sales go to participating restaurants, including New Orleans' own Cafe Reconcile, which provides at-risk kids the opportunity to learn the food service business.
Saturday morning, the RoadFood Festival will also coordinate with the Annual Oyster Jubilee on Bourbon Street to create the World's Longest Oyster Po-boy. "5,200 oysters and 340 feet of Leidenheimer bread," according to Stansbury.
