Don Ames

Don began his broadcasting career at college in Tulsa. He was soon hosting afternoons on that city's #1 rated station, 50,000 watt KRMG. He was honored by Oklahoma's governor and the Small Business Administration for a program he initiated resulting in the job placement of more than 17,000 Vietnam era veterans in the Tulsa area. Don moved to Denver to assume duties as Assistant Program Director and air personality at KOSI-AM and FM, becoming a member of Group W (Westinghouse) Broadcasting.

After helping to take KOSI-FM literally from worst to first, he was given the Program Director's job at Group W's Dallas outlet, KQZY-FM. After a successful stint in Big D, Don was lured to New Orleans to take the programming helm at Stoner Broadcasting's WBYU-FM.

Don joined the news staff of WWL in 1997, as both reporter and anchor. He has won numerous Associated Press awards in Colorado, Texas and Louisiana, as well as the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award. Don is a native of suburban Detroit, Michigan and graduate of Tulsa University.
