Big screen stars shine in the Big Easy

The bright lights continue to shine on New Orleans as far as the entertainment industry is concerned. Another major motion picture begins filming in New Orleans today. "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" stars Nicolas Cage, Val Kilmer and Eva Mendes. Their shoot is scheduled to run through August 26th. Also new in the area.

"Deadline" starring Brittany Murphy is filming in Houma. Carmen Elektra is currently shooting "Mardi Gras" in New Orleans at the same time she's shooting "Goody Two Shoes" in Shreveport.

Hollywood South shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, we've had almost as many movies come through the state in the first half of this year as in all of last year. "We're on pace to set new records this year. Over the course of 2007 we had about 53 productions shoot state-wide. This year alone, at the July 1st mark, we estimate about 50 pictures have come through our shop," says Chris Stelly, with the Louisiana Film Commission.
