Despite public outcry against state lawmakers voting to double their own salaries, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal today is holding steady to his promise to not veto the bill.
Jindal is instead telling constituents to encourage the senators and representatives to reconsider before the session adjourns.
"There's still have another week of session," said the governor at a ribbon-cutting event in Wallace, across the Mississippi River from Gramercy. "(I) strongly encourage them to revisit this decision. I think it was a mistake."

Jindal says no pay raise should go into affect until after the next election cycle, but he still won't veto this raise, saying lawmakers may cause trouble for his agenda if he does.
Jindal's insistence that he won't veto the bill is in contrast to his campaign rhetoric. A Jindal for Governor campaign flyer says the governor would block any legislative pay raise that takes effect before the next election.
Reporters did not have the opportunity to ask the governor to comment on the disparity at the event today.
