Saints head coach Sean Payton has talked about finding value in the 2nd wave of free agency and according to ESPN's Dan Graziano the team will be soon adding some more help to the linebacker corps:
I am told by a source that free-agent LB Mantei Te'o is close to a deal with the Saints, could sign Tuesday. https://t.co/AzZqvNTpCi— Dan Graziano (@DanGrazianoESPN) March 20, 2017
Te'o tore his Achilles in week 3 last year and missed the rest of 2016. The linebacker has been bothered by a number of injures that have limited his playing time during his first 4 seasons with the Chargers. The 26 year old is better known for being the victim of a "catfishing" hoax then for football; but has 222 tackles, 2 interceptions and 1.5 sacks in 38 career games. Te'o could provide some depth at inside LB for the Black & Gold as he is still still trying to live up to being selected in the 2nd round back in 2013.
