New Saints' LB A.J. Klein goes 1 on 1 with Kristian Garic
WWL's Saints sideline reporter Kristian Garic sad down for a one on one interview with newly signed Saints' linebacker A.J. Klein.
With a myriad of options in free agency, Klein had multiple options on where to sign this offseason. He said it came down to the fans and city of New Orleans.
"I've always been interested in coming (to New Orleans) to visit," Klein said. "Now I get to call this place home."
Klein played all three linebacker positions in Carolina, but was often stuck on the sidelines behind All-Pro's Luke Keuchly and Thomas Davis. There has been speculation that the promise of a starting position was also a deciding factor in his signing. He said that's not the case.
"I think it was left open ended," he said. "I've been pretty fluid in transitioning between each (linebacker) spot."
Newly reported contract details show Klein's three year deal is worth a maximum of $24 million, with $9 million guaranteed and a $4 million signing bonus. The base salary averages $6 million per season.
