Kristian Garic reporting
The New England Patriots offered the No. 32 overall pick in round 1 for Saints WR Brandin Cooks last weekend. The Saints said "no thanks" but the Patriots are reportedly still in the mix trying to come up with a deal to land the speedy wide out from New Orleans.
General Manager Mickey Loomis has maintained it would take something "significant" to get Cooks in a trade and the Patriots reportedly were willing to give up a first round pick, but wanted another pick in return from New Orleans. That deal was promptly declined, but league sources tell WWL that the Patriots continue to explore options and trade capitol to get him in Foxboro. The Saints want more in return for Cooks than was previously offered, perhaps a 2nd round pick packaged with the No. 32 pick in round one.
