NOLA council okays Uber

The New Orleans City Council today narrowly approved the ride-sharing business known as Uber. The 4-3 vote prompted a "boo" from the audience.

The Landrieu administration wanted to approve only Uber's limousine and luxury-car-for-hire service known as Uber Black. But even with those limitations, local taxi companies said it would create unfair competition.

Other critics said once Uber gets so much as a foot in the door, it's broader, "UberX" ride-sharing business would follow.
