Police are investigating a murder near the corner of Bourbon Street and Toulouse.
"Male victim stabbed and he died at the hospital," Officer Frank Robertson said in an email.
It happened Wednesday evening at around 8:45pm.
A news release says the victim was a 47-year-old man.
The incident reportedly started as a fight between two men on Toulouse Street.
"The suspect in tonight’s incident is possibly described as an African American man, dark complexion, 5’05”-5’06” tall, between 30-40 years of age," Robertson described. "Witnesses told police the suspect was last seen wearing a white jacket with possibly a red shirt underneath, with a scruffy beard and shoulder length dreadlocks."
NOPD says the man who was stabbed had been previously stabbed over the weekend, but was not seriously injured in the earlier incident.
"The victim in tonight's incident was stabbed late Sunday evening around 10:30pm in the 600 block of Decatur Street. During that incident, the victim was transported the to the hospital where he was treated and released."
I was not immediately clear if the fatal stabbing was related to the previous stabbing.
