Facebook helps in the hunt for criminals

Social media is turning out to be a great tool in the fight against crime.  Slidell Police are using Facebook to post of pictures of some of their most wanted suspects and according to one Detective it's the best thing he's ever used.

Within just two hours of posting the pictures of a man and a woman wanted for fraud and theft, cops got a call from a tipster who saw the pair at a local motel.

Detective Daniel Seuzeneau says officers responded and arrested 32-year-old Christine Balser and 41-year-old Richard Ransome.

''Multiple counts of theft and fraud, identity theft, actually over 50 counts on each of them, it's a pretty big case,'' said Seuzeneau.

Listen to an interview with Det. Daniel Seuzeneau:

Seuzeneau is amazed that thousands of users have checked out the Facebook post.

''It helps us fight crime better than any method I've used in the recent past,'' he said.

He says they will continue to use Facebook and hopefully will make many more arrests.
