Hollywood South sees lull after huge summer
Some big movies are wrapping up in Hollywood South.
The New Fantastic Four wrapped production this week in Louisiana. Jurassic World, Terminator 5 and Pitch Perfect 2 all recently completed shooting in the state.
Executive Director of Louisiana Entertainment, Chris Stelly, says there are more movie productions scheduled for the Bayou State.
"Warner Bros. is bringing a huge feature film called 'Geostorm' which will start filming this October, so they're currently prepping in the state. We have a small, little film called 'Trumbo', as well as 'The Whole Truth', 'The Runner'."
Stelly says we're currently in a standard industry lull following a busy spring and summer. He says things are certainly coming in for the last few months of the year.
A couple of major television shows are in production in Louisiana, too.
"'NCIS: New Orleans', they started up in July, and they'll be here through December. We have 'American Horror Story: Freakshow' currently shooting, as well, and they'll be out here through the fall and into the winter."
Stelly says the number of projects filmed in Louisiana has steadily increased over the past few years.
He says the future of the film industry in Louisiana looks bright.
"We're certainly looking at a trend that continues to grow and, at least, shows signs of strengthening."
