LSU's Jalen Mills back with the team

A potential starter at safety for LSU is back with the team after spending the summer suspended for allegedly hitting a woman near his apartment last May. Jalen Mills suspension was lifted after his charge of second-degree battery was reduced to misdemeanor simple battery.

"We'll continue to discipline, his discipline will be in-house," Head Coach Les Miles said. "But he's back with the team."

Miles added that some of the discipline will include extra conditioning.

Mills has started 26 games as he enters his junior season. He's been a starting cornerback for 25 of them. The Texas native started at safety in the Capital One Bowl victory over Iowa.

Mills attorney, Brent Stockstill, told tigerrag.com that he plans to plead not guilty to the simple battery charge.

"It's my understanding that we want a trial on this," Stockstill said. "He did not commit any crime, and we look forward to proving that."
