Area parents eager for summer's end

This past weekend's Louisiana tax holiday was timed, in part, to help parents prepare to send their kids back to school.

That means we're in the waning days of summer, and vacation season is coming to a close.  Many area schools resume classes this week.

So, are the folks ready to ship their kids back to the classroom?

It would appear so, according to those that WWL First News questioned in the CBD.

"Yeah, I'm ready for both of them to get back to school, so we can get things back to a routine," said mom.

And, most moms agreed.

"Because I work from home and I get to have the house to myself."

"Oh yeah, just to get my life in order. It's chaos."

"They kind of mess up your work schedule."

"I don't know if they're ready, but we're ready for them to go back."

"I'm not ready, because I'm the grandmother, of course. But his mother is pretty much ready."

And most of the dads would not disagree.

"Oh, yes, we're ready! To give us some extra time, some 'just for us' time."

"Most definitely I'm ready. They're driving me crazy."

This dad, though...not necessarily so ready to say goodbye to summer. "No, not yet. We're going to enjoy what's left, thanks."

And, he's not the only one to sorry to see summer go so quickly.

"I'm a teacher, so...NO!"
