Running of the Bulls July 12
The Sugar Mill, 1021 Convention Center Blvd
New Orleans apes the famous Pamplona event with our own "Running of the Bulls" featuring the Big Easy Roller Girls, armed with foam noodles and wiffle ball bats chasing participants throughout the Warehouse District. The event is preceeded by the Procession on San Fermin at 7:15 am. The actual Running of the Bulls starts at 8 am. Bring good shoes, fellas, you're gonna need them!
Bastille Day Fête July 12
Spanish Plaza at the Riverwalk
Bastille Day Fête is a free, public festival at the revitalized Spanish Plaza at the Riverwalk. Catch a Mississippi River breeze while feasting on delicious French food from local restaurants and dancing to the sound of live music. This year’s line-up will feature exceptional local artists and francophone acts. There will be face painting, French storytelling, arts activities, and the chance to explore a fireboat! (Traditionally in France, Bastille Day celebrations are held in firehouses). Plus, connect live in France via live radio broadcast! Hear and be heard at celebrations in Paris and cities across the US. Dogs are invited too… dress up your pup for the annual French Dog Contest where all dogs are welcome to show off their French spirit and win prizes!
Bastille Day Picnic July 13
Washington Square Park in the Marigny
The Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association invites you to a Bastille Day Picnic at Washington Square Park in the Faubourg Marigny from 11:30am until 2pm. Watch the CitroeNOLA parade with its unique french vintage cars arrive around 11:30am, then join the Play a Petanque Tournament to fundraise for Washington Park fence repairs and maintenance with the support of the Alliance Francaise de La Nouvelle-Orleans from noon to 2:00pm. There will be music by the Pres Hall Brass Band at 12:30pm, with delicious sandwiches and refreshments available from Cafe 821.
Grill in the Garden - a fundraiser for the Shadowbox Theatre July 13
Clouet Gardens in the Bywater
The Shadowbox Theatre presents ‘Grill in the Garden,’ a cookout and grill-off competition in Clouet Gardens in the Bywater. Cook your best grilled meat or veggies for a chance to win gift certificates to local businesses, or a pair of tickets to every show at the Shadowbox for a full year. You provide the grill charcoal, and food, or for $15 they will find you a grill and charcoal! Grilling begins at 2pm, with food and festivities at 4pm, and live music from 4pm-7pm. Gourmet ice pops provided by Meltdown. There is a $5-$10 sliding scale suggested donation at the door. This event is the first of several planned fundraisers for the Shadowbox as they move to improve their facilities, become a state and federal non-profit, and hire additional staff.
Rockin' for Richie - a benefit for Richard Siegel July 13
Rock N Bowl in Mid-City
This concert will benefit Richard Siegel, a 34-year veteran of the New Orleans Police Department, 32nd Degree Mason, and the husband of Wendy Siegel of Crescent City Soul. Richard has suffered from Parkinson's Disease for over 15 years. Beginning at 2pm, there will be over 8 hours of music, food, prizes and fun! Featuring a grade-A lineup of New Orleans bands including Crescent City Soul, The Boogiemen, the Wiseguys, the Yat Pack and many more.
