Cops say kids called them to say their parents were arguing, and then their mom shot their dad overnight in Kenner.
"The Kenner Police Department is presently investigating what appears to be a domestic related homicide," Sergeant Brian McGregor said in a news release. "The Kenner Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a residence in the 2400 block of Kentucky Avenue, Kenner, in which the caller reported a domestic disturbance and gunshots."
It happened around 2:30am.
"Officers arriving on scene discovered one male subject shot. The male was transported to University Hospital where his death was pronounced," according to McGregor.
He says the four children range in age from four to 14 years old. Police think one or two of the kids witnessed their mom shooting their dad.
"It will be determined whether she will be charged or not," the sergeant said about the mother.
Detectives have been interviewing the children to help figure out what happened.
The couple had recently separated. McGregor says there were no reported cases of prior domestic abuse reported, but some family members say there had been prior incidents.
The dead father is identified as 38-year-old Lyndell Desilva.
Investigators say it appears Desilva hit his wife with a gun and racked the slide of his weapon before she shot him with another gun.
