Jindal and White's feud over Common Core continues
The feud between Governor Jindal and state superintendent of education John White over Common Core shows no signs of slowing down. In a politico.com article, White says Jindal is violating the rights of poor children with his attempt to pull Louisiana out of Common Core. Jeremy Alford, editor of lapolitics.com, says White has a lot of support in his argument.
"The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education is opposing the governor, the Board of Regents opposes the governor, the business community has said they are going to fight back," Alford said. "So John White is not alone in this struggle."
In the politico article, Jindal's spokesman is quoted as saying that White's allegations are silly. Alford says this back-and-forth will continue, with neither side backing down.
"I don't think it will get to the point where John White will resign and Jindal doesn't have the votes on BESE to have him removed."
Alford says eventually the future Common Core will be determined by the judicial system.
"This is issue is going to get kicked to the courts for a decision."
