Have you ever considered being a tourist in your own hometown?
Some call it "staycations."
You may want to think about it.
WalletHub just came out with their rankings comparing the 100 largest cities in the U.S. when it comes to taking that vacation at home, and New Orleans ranks # 7.
WalletHub.com CEO Odysseas Papadimitriou says when it comes to staycations, New Orleans has a lot to offer.
"The food, the number of attractions you have in terms of museums, aquariums, concert hall attractions, performances, public golf courses, tennis courses, parks, all of these are very high," said Papadimitriou.
New Orleans ranked number 3 for food and entertainment, number 1 for museums per capita, and in the top 10 for public golf courses per capita.
So why only number 7? Why not a higher ranking for New Orleans?
"The temperature, in the middle of July, it's not the most attractive temperature to be around," Papadimitriou added.
Also Papadimitriou said the cost of a movie ticket, and the cost of maid service brought it down a bit.
So remember, if you want to save some money and see the local attractions for a change, your own hometown has a lot to offer.
