3 Louisiana schools in NCAA Baseball Tournament

Today, we find out who three Louisiana college baseball teams will play in the NCAA  Regionals.

LSU, UL Lafayette and Southeastern Louisiana are in the tournament.  Winners in the Regionals advanse to the the Super Regional, and the winners there go to the College World Series.

The Cajuns and Tigers are expected to receive national seeds.

The Tigers and Cajuns won their respective conference tournaments yesterday. Sean McMullen's  two  run  homer  in the eighth was all the scoring in the SEC Tournament Championship game  as  the Tigers blanked Florida two to nothing. Four pitchers combined to throw the shutout.

The Cajuns beat Texas-Arlington six to five to win the  Sun  Belt Tournament title. Shortstop Blake Trahan's solo home run in the seventh inning snapped a five-five tie. Trahan was 7-for-12  in  the tournament with five RBIs and was named the tourney's Most Outstanding Player.

Southeastern Louisiana is in NCAA Tournament for the first  time  since 1994.  The Lions receive an automatic bid,  because they won the Southland Conference Tournament championship on Saturday.

Five Southeastern Conference teams are among the 16 hosts for regionals in the NCAA Division I baseball tournament.

SEC tournament champion LSU and regular-season champion Florida, are hosts along with Mississippi, South Carolina and Vanderbilt. The 16 regional hosts announced Sunday are guaranteed spots in the 64-team NCAA tournament.

ULL is also hosting a regional.  It is just the second time in school history the Cajuns are hosting.
