Steve Gleason heads to hospital

Former Saints player Steve Gleason is in the hospital as he fights ALS.

Gleason said on Twitter, "Weve lived this #ALS journey publicly, no reason to stop now. I am heading in for a semi-planned tracheotomy."

As he deteriorates, however, Gleason is clearly not giving up.

On his Facebook page he asked for people to help focus on healing.

"I believe in the power of intention, prayer, meditation, etc. I appreciate your unified focus on healing.
#NoWhiteFlags -SG," he posted.

Gleason was diagnosed in 2010, and he says he has made it his mission to show that ALS patients can not only live but can thrive after this diagnosis.

Team Gleason aims to raise "awareness for ALS with the intent of ultimately finding solutions for the disease."

The Saints made 6 defensive picks; 3 offensive picks. Do you like the focus of the Saints Draft?
