A six-year-old girl died in a one-vehicle crash on I-10 in New Orleans east this afternoon. Police say the girl was ejected from the SUV when the driver lost control and crashed.
"A 36-year-old woman was traveling westbound on I-10W in a Chevrolet Suburban when for reasons unknown, after passing the Morrison Road exit, she lost control of the vehicle causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times," police said in a news release. "The 6-year-old child was ejected from the vehicle and died en route to the hospital. The vehicle was also occupied with three other girls, ages 6, 9, and 10-years-old. The woman was transported to the hospital in stable condition while the three girls were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure."
Police say charges against the driver are pending.
