Eighteen pounds of pot wash up on Grand Isle

Cops in Grand Isle seized 18 pounds of marijuana today, and they barely had to do anything -- in this case, it was a considerable amount of marijuana that just washed up on the beach.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff's officials are assisting the investigations, checking to see if any more drugs have washed up.

"We have contacted Harbor Police at Port Fourchon and...our water patrol section of the sheriff's office in Lafourche Parish," said Deputy Brennan Matherne.

Matherne says for all they know, this contraband could have been bound for anywhere, and washed over the side of a vessel just passing by in the Gulf.
