Parade goers head to St. Bernard Parish Sunday
One more parade this weekend. This time in St. Bernard Parish. It's the St. Bernard Parish Irish Italian Islenos community parade rolling this Sunday.
The Krewe's President Chad O'Neil says the locals come out for this one. And you'd better get your parade fix in, this is the last one of the season in the region.
O'Neil told WWL First News, "It is definitely the last parade in the parish, and I believe it may be the last parade in the city as far as the Mardi Gras/St. Patrick's Day season goes."
"Yeah we'll be tossing 300,000 plus pounds of cabbage, onions, potatoes, carrots, limes, bananas, oranges and plenty more," O'Neil said.
As the name says, the parade combines the Irish and Italians with the history of Islenos who originated from the Canary Islands.
Because of a great forecast, the crowds should be huge, so come early to get your spot.
