Louisiana GOP head calls on McAllister to resign

Louisiana Republican Party Chairman Roger Villere released a statement today saying 5th District Congressman Vance McAllister has embarrassed the party, the state and the institution of Congress, and should therefore resign immediately.

McAllister has been in damage-control mode since a surveillance camera video went public, of him and a married, female staffer locked in a passionate kiss in his Monroe office.

"The Republican Party of Louisiana calls on Vance McAllister to resign his seat in Congress. Mr. McAllister's extreme hypocrisy is an example of why ordinary people are fed up with politics," said Villere in the news release. "A breach of trust of this magnitude can only be rectified by an immediate resignation. He has embarrassed our party, our state and the institution of Congress."

McAllister brought up his values of "faith, family, and country" during his campaign.

"We are praying for Mr. McAllister and the families that are involved," Villere said in the concluding paragraph.

McAllister says there are no plans to resign at this time.
