LSU abduction attempt a hoax

LSU police have charged a Denham Springs woman with criminal mischief, after she told authorities that she was a victim of an attempted abduction.

Authorities say as they investigated, it became clear that the 22-year-old LSU student's story was fabricated.

Leila Marlene Wolfe claimed that a man a man driving a black van tried to kidnap her, while she was walking on the LSU campus Thursday night.

She told officers that the man approached her and grabbed her by the arm. But, she said she was able to break away and run from the area.

LSU Police say that, through investigation, many of the events the woman provided to investigators could not be corroborated.
Investigators uncovered additional inconsistencies in information she provided and she eventually admitted that she had made up the incident and it had not occurred.
Wolfe was issued a misdemeanor summons and released.
