The New Orleans Civil Service Commission has reinstated former New Orleans cop Travis McCabe, with back-pay.
McCabe was convicted of filing a false police report in connection with the fatal shooting of Henry Glover. Police officer David Warren shot and killed Glover in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Glover's burned remains were later found in torched car on the river side of the Algiers levee.
Both Warren and McCabe's convictions were later overturned, and Warren won acquittal during a retrial. The federal government declined to pursue a new trial in McCabe's case.
McCabe's reinstatement was all but assured when the city of New Orleans dropped its opposition.
