Gas price increase expected to continue

Gasoline prices are on their way up, again.  The American Automobile Association's daily survey reports the average cost of 87 octane today is more than $3.16 a gallon.

It wasn't hard to find gasoline below three dollars a gallon recently, drivers were loving it.

"Yes, I really have.  Making 20 dollar gas is pretty good," one woman told WWL First News while filling up during her morning commute.

But it's become more rare, with the average cost of gas up, and motorists just having to deal it.

"You gotta get it either way it goes, whether it's high or low you gotta get it," another driver said.

Some drivers say they hardly noticed the decrease because it didn't last too long.

"It went down, but it went right back up again," said another motorist.  "Kind of hits your pocket real hard."

AAA says the increase is tied to the season: as refineries make changes now to produce summer-grade gas, they can't produce as much, so the price you pay goes up. The auto club is advising its Louisiana members to prepare for gas in the neighborhood of $3.60 a gallon.
