Ice storm likely gives Landrieu a late boost

Sometimes in politics, timing can be everything and for New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, the ice storm this week was right on time.

It all happened during the final days before the city election on Saturday a time when candidates want to blast their messages to voters.

It seemed that Mitch Landrieu was everywhere looking like a strong leader, what was Michael Bagneris to do?

''I think the freeze put a literal and figurative chill on the Michael Bagneris campaign,'' said Gambit political editor Clancy DuBos.

Listen to Clancy DuBos on how the ice storm could affect the polls:

DuBos says the freeze put Landrieu out front with multiple news conferences on radio and TV during the storm.

'' It gave him a chance to look very mayoral, in charge and on top of things and that's what you want,'' said DuBos.

DuBos says the timing couldn't have been better for Landrieu and he made the most it.
