Cops: Galliano man held woman captive, raped her

A man allegedly held a woman captive in Lafourche Parish for several days, raping and threatening to kill her.

"Sheriff Craig Webre reported the arrest of a Galliano man who allegedly raped a woman after holding her captive inside a home over the weekend," according to a news release from the sheriff's office. "Lee Hartman (W/M, D.O.B. 02/04/86) of 156 Jerica Street faces charges of rape, battery and false imprisonment in the incident."

Authorities say they got the call Monday afternoon.

"Deputies and detectives responded to Hartman's Jerica Street residence where Hartman had allegedly been holding a woman against her will since Friday," according to the release.  "Detectives learned Hartman and the woman were arguing on Friday night, and Hartman allegedly did not allow the woman to leave the residence."

Officials say the suspect wouldn't let the victim use the phone and told her he would kill her, "threatening her with several knives and other objects."

"At one point, Hartman allegedly forced the woman to have sexual intercourse against her will, again threatening the woman with a knife. He had also allegedly poked her in the eye with an object and threatened to kill the woman if she called law enforcement."

Police say the victim finally got a chance to call for help when her captor was distracted Monday.
"Another man arrived at the residence and began arguing with Hartman. During that time, the woman was able to contact the Sheriff's Office. Deputies arrived and were able to take Hartman into custody without incident."

Detectives say that when they questioned Hartman about the incident, he "admitted to several aspects of the incident, but he claimed he could not remember everything."

They say he also admitted to smoking methamphetamine prior to the incident.
