Troopers: I-10 may stay closed until Thursday
Louisiana state police say drivers should not expect the I-10 to be open across the state until Thursday.
"We are trying to set expectations that things could remain closed until tomorrow," Captain Doug Cain told WWL First News. "I-10 could remain closed all the way from Lafayette to New Orleans."
He says temperatures just have not warmed up enough to allow the roads to thaw.
"We are asking people to stay off the roadways," he stressed.
Cain noted, however, that if people must travel between New Orleans and Baton Rouge they should be able to use Airline Highway.
"We are going to continue to work on US 61 and keep that route open."
The captain also said Highway 190 should remain open between Baton Rouge and Lafayette.
