Gonzales Police say a teacher is facing a string of charges after allegedly going to work very intoxicated.
The Ascension Christian High School teacher was arrested after school officials sent her home early for being drunk.
After leaving the school, police say Jamie Ingrassia was involved in a hit and run crash.
Sgt. Steven Nethken says once police caught Ingrassia they gave her a breathalyzer test which determined her blood alcohol content was .285, more than three times the legal limit.
"As officers were speaking to her, they determined that she was showing signs of impairment. She was brought into the police department under investigation of the hit and run accident," Nethken explained. "It's not something we see everyday, especially this early in the morning for someone to be driving around with this impairment level."
She was arrested for a second offense DWI. Ingrassia also faces charges of careless operation, hit and run and DWI.
Ingrassia recently received another DWI charge in Saint James Parish.
