Saints fans hopeful about playoffs despite team's lackluster road record

With the 42-17 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Saints punched their ticket to the NFC playoffs -- as the 6th and final team to qualify.  How does the Who Dat Nation feel about going on the road for every playoff game? There is some optimism, despite the Saints never having won in hostile territory in the post-season, including three attempts under Sean Payton.

"They haven't been very good on the road lately, so I'm a little concerned about that," one fan told us this morning.  "But I think if they play, as a unit as they did yesterday, I think they can actually pull it off."

"I think they can pull it together," another said.  "We've won on the road before, we won in Miami for the Super Bowl.  Should be no different now."

"It's going to be difficult knowing that we went 0-5 with all our playoffs on the road," another fan told us, "but I think we can pull it off if we play how we played last night."

"Against Philadelphia, the should do real well.  They match up pretty decent," another fan pointed out.

The Saints begin their quest for the Meadowlands by traveling to Philadelphia for a Saturday night Wild Card-round game against the Eagles. If they get past Philadelphia, they will travel to the home of the NFC's number-one seed: the Seattle Seahawks.

Deke: Top 5 college football teams for 2014
Everyone has their own predictions when it comes to college football, and I've jotted down who I think are the top five teams entering the 2014. It's hard to place an SEC Team atop of the poll simply due to the toughness of the conference, and how hard...

Deke: LeBron goes home - I am down with the King!
Websites crashed, Twitter blew up (and is still blowing up) and the once 150-1 odds for the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the 2015 NBA championship shrank down to 3-1. Yes, very few people in the world can ever and will ever matter as much as LeBron...

Deke: Fast starts led to big things in Sean Payton era
They say numbers don't lie. That statement could not be more true, than when it comes to the New Orleans Saints success under Coach Sean Payton. And when you dig a little deeper inside the numbers, the obvious becomes crystal clear. As he enters...

Deke: Graham deal should get done sooner than later
Now that the ruling is in, a long term deal to keep TE Jimmy Graham in a Saints uniform should get done, and soon. I have no reason to believe otherwise. Graham will probably become the highest paid tight end in the NFL. For those who were upset that...

Kristian: Flip a coin on Graham deal, according to Mortenson
The second biggest decision of the summer might be on the way - or it might not. Now that we know where Lebron James is going, what about Jimmy Graham and the Saints working out a deal before the July 15th deadline? "It's 50/50 at best - I'm...

Kristian: Jimmy Graham not likely to appeal TE ruling
Saints tight end Jimmy Graham has until Monday to file an appeal of Steven Burbank's ruling last week that he is indeed a tight end for the purpose of a franchise tag salary. The appeal would be to a three person panel in the NFL; however, that...

Kristian: Saints hold the leverage over Graham
After last week's ruling by system arbitrator Stephen Burbank, the Saints not only claimed a small victory, but also a ton of leverage where negotiations with Jimmy Graham are concerned. Graham flat-out stands to lose too much money if he doesn't...

Kristian: Graham needs to go back to negotiating table
Arbritrator Steven Burbank ruled against Saints tight end Jimmy Graham in his grievance against the Saints and the NFL. Burbank ruled Graham is a tight end instead of a wide receiver. Graham was franchised tagged as a tight end this past March, and he...

Kristian: Should we be celebrating loss to Germany?
I’m on record as not being a huge fan of soccer, but I am however a HUGE fan of Team USA - no matter what sport!  I would watch and pull for the Stars and Stripes in an ice sculpting competition.   So I watched the World Cup match...
