Body of missing Northshore woman found with submerged car

Family members' search for Crystal Friedman came to a sad end today with the discovery of her silver Hyundai Sonata in a body of water near the Oak Harbor exit near Slidell.

Friedman hadn't been seen since the night of December 8.  Deputies learned she had been at a bar on Hwy. 11, and investigators found out that Friedman may have been headed for a bar on the south shore side of the lake near Ft. Pike.  According to the sheriff's office, Friedman had purchased a number of drinks before leaving Natal's on Hwy. 11.

Monday, recovery crews converged on the scene near Oak Harbor and dragged her silver Hyundai Sonata from the water. The body of a white female was inside, but officials say the coroner's office will confirm the identity.  Medical examiners will also determine if the victim had excess alcohol in her system, as well as other factors that could have influenced the crash.
